Kidney Surgery
Robotic and Laparoscopic Kidney Surgery
‘Minimally invasive’ or ‘keyhole’ surgery involves making multiple small incisions rather than one large one to introduce small instruments to operate on the kidney. The benefits are less post-operative pain, a faster recovery with return to normal activity and better cosmetic outcome.
Mr Henderson has pursued training opportunities throughout his career to perfect his ‘minimally invasive’ skills. He has extensive experience of laparoscopic kidney surgery and has extended this into robotic surgery. He performed the first robotic nephrectomy (kidney removal) and pyeloplasty (kidney reconstruction) in Gloucestershire.
He performs the following procedures;
-
Laparoscopic and robotic kidney removal (nephrectomy) and partial nephrectomy
-
Laparoscopic and robotic kidney and ureter removal (nephroureterectomy)
-
Laparoscopic and robotic pyeloplasty (treatment of PUJ obstruction)
-
Laparoscopic deroofing of kidney cysts.
Following successful treatment, Mr Henderson will monitor you regularly to ensure that problems do not recur.
